Both of us are coming from mixed religion marriage.
So it's important to have something general. Our plan is that the only religious part go to the holy matrimony, or some prayer.
Of course when it comes to choosing the right word to be printed in the invitation, it could be tricky.
In Indonesia, it is common to quote something from the Bible or a verse from the Al Quran to be included in the first page of the invitation. We don't want to do that.
So the alternative is to quote a philosopher's quote.
Automatically, I search for Anthony de Mello's quote.
Why? I like his writing since the first time I read that during high school. (Do you know that a Sagittarius is The Philosopher in all the zodiac sign?)
Back to the quote, this is my short list:
Happiness is not something you acquire; love is not something you produce; love is not something you have; love is something that has you - The Land of Love
Before creation Love was. After creation love is made. When love is consummated, creation will cease to be, and Love will be forever -One Minute of Nonsense
But... Caesar didn't like those two. So I search another quotes.
There were two quotes that caught my eyes:
When there is love, there is live - Mahatma Gandhi
Il n'y a qu'un bonheur dans la vie, c'est d'aimer et d'ĂȘtre aimĂ©. - George Sands
(There is only one happiness in life -- to love and to be loved.)I like Gandhi's quote, but Caesar said that it is a little pessimistic.
But he really likes the second one.
So, you've already known what is our choice.
